Chattanooga makes a great setting for Easter. For decorating the table we could choose from a bouquet of tulips, redbud, dogwood, or apple blossoms from the yard. It is quite different from my childhood memories of Easter in Michigan. One year there was an ice storm that cancelled church services. Many years, piles of gray snow remained near parking lots.
Here, herbs have awakened from winter and we used rosemary, mint, oregano, and thyme for an herb encrusted leg of lamb. The white and sweet potatoes that we roasted alongside were tossed with olive oil, parsley, thyme, and oregano.
Four generations of family gathered to celebrate. There was no egg hunt this year. My grandson is just six months. But next year, he will likely discover that tulip leaves may be hiding an egg.
